This week I need to seriously start thinking about who I am going to hire to build the perfect craft “island” for my office space. I have already tried to price something like this through Lowe’s and Home Depot but the truth is the cost is outrageous! I don’t need high end materials or finishes but I do want something custom built that has 24″ wide (shallow) drawers, slide out trays for all of my papers, tools, baskets, and a pull out trash can that I can slide out beside me while I am crafting. I also want a slight overhang on one side for stools that my son can use while he is crafting or maybe I can use as a “conference” area when I meet with suppliers and other business associates. It isn’t too much to ask is it?
I definitely want it to be shabby black and distressed or worn wood. And it needs to be BIG. I have a large open square space in my office and I need a table top space to do some actual crafting. This area will also be used to create video tutorials for Pink Paislee in the future. I am not sure about the materials for the top but I don’t think it has to be granite. I would settle for something less expensive as long as it looks good. More than likely it is going to get used and abused anyhow
I have a few names of some local contractors so I think I am going to get this ball rolling this week! As the office island progresses I will be sure to share details right here on my blog!
Before we go I thought it would also be fun to share a few peeks at the other areas of my office:
This mirror is right above my computer alcove. Of course I had to embellish it with a vinyl wall decal.
This cabinet is against one of my walls. And yes I still NEED another table top area to actually get some crafting done!
So wish me luck…….and stay tuned for how I transform all of my supplies into an organized center island because IT IS going to happen. I need some organization in my life.
