Some Wine, Some Sand….

My best friend of over 20+ years came over last night so we could work on her destination wedding invitations. We had a lot of fun drinking wine, playing with loose sand, gettling glue EVERYWHERE and chatting while putting these together! Lori (my friend) is getting married and they have decided to have a very small and intimate beachside wedding this June. I am extremely happy for her and her new fiance Joe and am honored to be a part of their upcoming event!
We started this project thinking we were going to do some type of message in a bottle type of invitation with the sand and shells, but after a local trip to the craft store we quickly realized that it might be hard to find all the pieces we needed to assemble those. While we were searching for the perfect bottles we ended up coming across these Martha Stewart memory boxes in the clearance isle for only $3. So………..we modified our message in a bottle theme to fit within this see through memory box. It really turned out better than we both expected. We actually glued the box shut so none of the sand escapes. Next week I am getting them individually shrink wrapped and off they go in the mail. I already checked with the Post Office and they said it would not be a problem to mail these just as you are looking at them. FUN HUH? Imagine getting this box in the mail full of sand and shells….it definitely sets the tone of the wedding theme!
I have to thank Lori for letting me help her create these! It was a lot of fun.
Just Like Mike
April 23, 2008 at 4:56 pm | In Chit Chat | 2 CommentsYep…warmer weather always turns into fun antics in the backyard! This is my 6′2″ husband slam dunking a basketball on my 5 year olds Fisher Price basketball goal that is all of 4 foot high.
Our yard is actually kind of strange because it has an upper level and a lower level so I was standing on higher ground when I captured this shot. Cracks me up! It looks like he is so high off the ground at this angle.
Anyhoo….it has been nice to be able to relax a bit this week. Lots still to do but nothing that I feel extremely pressured about (unless you count that Pink Paislee newsletter I have YET to finish) *sigh* I promise I will get to it someday soon.
Hope you are enjoying nicer weather where you are!
Who Me? Bored On A Saturday Night?
April 19, 2008 at 7:52 pm | In Chit Chat | 1 CommentAs the day comes to an end I am sitting here on my couch watching a pretty bad Hugh Grant movie called About A Boy and playing with the shapes tool in Photoshop. Every now and then I have a few minutes to spare and it is during those times that I try to sit down and just ”PLAY” with Photoshop. Tonight I think I finally discovered how to insert a custom shape into a document. This is probably so easy for everyone else but I struggle with the easy tasks sometimes! There are some fun standard shapes that come with this software like the ever popular man and woman icon that seems to be everywhere lately in the scrapbooking world.
We spent the entire day shipping orders for Pink Paislee. We are almost all caught up and have somewhere around 35 orders left to ship. The good news is that most of the remaining orders should be out of here by Wednesday so maybe then I will be able to work on my other to do list (like finishing up the production details for the summer release)
Holly is almost finished designing all the products for our CHA Summer release and we are already gearing up to get these items in production. All in all we are ahead of the game for this release. It is a big relief compared to how quickly we threw together our initial release.
So…………that is all from me tonight. Sorry this entry is so boring…just a bunch of rambling from me tonight! I hope to scrap tomorrow so maybe I will have something new to share soon.
Creative Distractions
April 15, 2008 at 6:05 pm | In Chit Chat | 3 CommentsI have been distracting myself with this layout for the past week. Working on it a little here and a little there….I couldn’t help playing with a few goodies I purchased recently. It has also been fun getting my hands dirty.
I have created 3 halloween layouts from last year so I think I am officially done…LOL! On this one I really went to town with the copper and the aqua paints and inks. It was FUN! I really don’t bust out the ink anymore but I love the effect and aging look it created with this Prima paper.
I am having a bit of a crazy day but sneaking off to finish this layout today really helped the mood. As scrapbooking always seems to do for me.
Rock Chalk!
April 13, 2008 at 4:38 pm | In Chit Chat | Leave a CommentI think we are in the middle of the longest NCAA celebration I have ever heard of. It all started when the Jayhawks beat Memphis in overtime to win the 2008 Championship. Since that night my husband has watched the game over and over again rewinding and fast forwarding just to watch the highlights. Neither my husband nor I attended KU but that doesn’t matter. My husband is a HUGE FAN and always has been; so today we joined the entire town of Lawrence to celebrate the win in ANOTHER celebration ceremony that consisted of a parade and lots of local t-shirt swindling.
Of course we tried to snap photos of the players but it was virtually impossible with over 100,000 people lined up and down Mass street as you can see from this photo. I think this is Russell Robinson holding the actual trophy. Atleast that is what my husband tells me
Go HAWKS! Congrats on the big win.
Meet Me In St. Louis!
April 3, 2008 at 5:07 pm | In Chit Chat | 3 CommentsTurns out I am headed to the CKC Convention in St. Louis this Saturday. I am making it a day trip so I am sure it will be a long day (8 hours of driving to be exact.) We are leaving at 6:00 a.m. so we can get there around 10:00 or 10:30 a.m.
Also……we are having a mini Pink Paislee meet up so if you are going to the event make plans to meet us at 4:30 ish over at Zapata’s in Collinsville. I never miss a chance to try a new mexican restaurant so it should be fun!
