Altered LunchPails
December 11, 2007 at 2:39 pm | In Chit Chat | 7 CommentsTags: scrapbooking

I finally finished altering the mini Maya Road Lunch Pails for Connor’s preschool teachers this week. You really can’t tell from these photos but it took me quite a while to take them apart (remove the handles) paint around the edges with my Making Memories metallic glaze paints and then add the paper, wrap the ribbon and add the handles back on. They look pretty simple but overall it was a lot of assembly and drying time. I also stamped on the tags and added glitter to the die cut snowflakes.
Now that I have them finished I just have to decide what to put in them. I am open to suggestions so feel free to give me ideas on what a preschool teacher would like to receive (just make sure I can fit it in this small lunch tin)
Introducing Pink Paislee
December 10, 2007 at 5:37 pm | In Chit Chat | 12 Comments
I did it! Today I announced the sale of Create My Keepsake along with the announcement about my new business venture called Pink Paislee! If you are interested in reading the post about the sale of CMK you can access it here.
A year or so ago my husband and I felt a very strong tug in our hearts to launch a manufacturing company. My husband has over 23 years of experience in manufacturing and production so it really seemed natural to follow this course. After a few months the pieces began to fall into place (what I mean is…. I finally convinced Holly to join me) and now my husband and I are very excited to move forward with our plans to start our own manufacturing company.
Our new company is called Pink Paislee, LLC and we will be developing our own line of papers, alphabets, die cuts, and a few other things I can’t reveal at the moment! Our goal is to attend the CHA Winter 2008 show and reveal our products to everyone during this event.
I am also happy to publicly announce that we will be featuring products designed exclusively by Holly McCaig Designs. As you may or may not know Holly was heavily involved in the digital scrapbook community designing products for the digital scrapper and she served on the inaugural creative board for Digital Scrapbook Magazine (a branch of Simple Scrapbooks). Holly has also designed products for Bo Bunny Press in the past and I am beyond thrilled to be able to work with her and to turn her creative visions into products that we can all create with.
Pink Paislee will also be absorbing the Pink.Sugar.Pop line of stamps and those designs will be reworked and branded under our new packaging. We are also developing new designs to coordinate with our new paper collections so you will have even more great stamp choices from Holly!
Our website address is www.pinkpaislee.com and although it is not live yet we hope to have the splash page up in a few days with an email registration so that you can be notified when the website is live!
If you wish to follow along with our progress you can always visit my personal blog Just Punky or Hollys blog All Things Pink until we have our Pink Paislee website and blog in place.
I am nervous and excited to be taking this step in the industry but I would be lying if I said I wasn’t looking forward to this new adventure!
Sincerely,
Rebecca

Family Day
December 9, 2007 at 6:01 pm | In Chit Chat | 5 Comments
We had such a fun family day today! We took our son down to Crown Center to visit with Santa and to play in the Crayola Play Area. Crown Center looks so beautiful during this time of year and the history of Halls and Hallmark is everywhere in this area and the shops located here. We even saw Snoopy, Garfield and a giant walking crayon. By far this is the best Santa location in town. They allowed us to snap our own photos all without any commitments to purchase their versions. We ate at Fritz’Diner while were there and we stopped to take a few photos! There are many more to share but I thought I would start with the photos of Mom and Dad with the little one!
Snow Angel
December 8, 2007 at 1:19 pm | In Chit Chat | 1 Comment
Can you stand another snow photo? I took about 50 pictures with my camera during our first snowfall and I need to take some time to look through them. This one caught my eye right away so I thought I would share. This is my son making a snow angel. Let me tell you…he is getting so big. I don’t know if it is the angle of the camera or what….but he looks so tall! Hope you are having a wonderful weekend.

ok…look at the amazing site outside of my front door! Yep…our very first snowfall! I think this means I will be able to test out the new Canon D40 SLR today in the snow for the first time. Whoop! Whoop!
A Copper Christmas
December 6, 2007 at 1:29 pm | In Chit Chat | 9 Comments
I have a copper themed christmas at my house and I am glad to see this color starting to get more attention during the holiday season. I originally developed this color scheme in 2003 when we purchased a new copper colored sofa. Much to my dismay I found some gorgeous glass ornaments that same year at a home decor store and started growing my copper and gold color theme! Here are a few snapshots for you to enjoy. The mantle is very earthy and simple but it is also very shimmery so it makes me happy!!! Enjoy the eye candy!
I Do Want To Scrap!
December 4, 2007 at 3:30 am | In Chit Chat | 4 Comments
I really do want to scrap! I want to make something….anything! It has been too long. I am hoping that I will be able to steal some “me time” tomorrow afternoon while my son is at school! Maybe just maybe it will happen. In the meantime….I pulled this project out of the archives to share with you. I made these last year for all of the kids in my son’s class. I stamped the tags and then scallop them with deco scissors. Quick and easy. I know most of you probably saw these last year….but for anyone who is new to this blog……….Enjoy!
Big News Is Coming!
December 1, 2007 at 5:35 pm | In Chit Chat | 11 CommentsIn 9 short days I will be making an announcement that I think is pretty significant. I am nervous, excited, sad, and happy all at the same time. Of course I can’t tell you and I probably shouldn’t bring it up right??? But if you are curious enough you will check back on December 10th for all of the glorious news!!! Stay Tuned!
Pink Ribbon Girl
December 1, 2007 at 3:37 am | In Chit Chat | 4 Comments
In High School I was the captain of our drill team. Every summer we would travel to SMSU and compete against 50 other drill team squads around the area. During this week long training camp and competition the judges would be looking for dancers who were extra skilled in dance or technique. If a judge thought you were extra skilled or advanced they would hand you a pink ribbon. Of course once you had the pink ribbon you would cry and jump up and down for joy just for being recognized. Well….I happened to earn one of those Pink Ribbons one summer and for an entire day I felt like I was on top of the world.
Today when you hear the phrase pink ribbon you almost instantly think of the breast cancer symbol and breast cancer survivors. In fact when you do a google search for pink ribbon or pink ribbon girl (as we used to call ourselves back in 1989) the top results are all related to breast cancer and the power of pink. Lately I have been thinking ALOT about the color pink and that led me to reminisce about a “pink ribbon girl.” I have never personally had to deal with any breast cancer issues but I just can’t get this connection out of my mind. Is there truth to the phrase “The Power Of Pink?”
I think in the very near future I am going to find a way to test this theory! The ideas are starting to brew in my head. I don’t think this is the last of my obsession with “the pink ribbon.”
